The Wagon Shed
The Wagon Shed was constructed in 1910
Wagons were used extensively throughout the Fort to transport equipment and supplies. The wagons were also used to transport the mines from storage to the wharf, where they were loaded onto mine-laying boats and positioned throughout the bay.
Unfortunately the wagon shed was demolished before the Fort was renovated. The fire station for Great Diamond Island, supporting a Volunteer Fire Company and Emergency Medical Technicians, now resides on the site of the old wagon shed.
