Pumphouse and Well Houses
Water for the barracks, officer's residences, and other buildings at the Fort came from 8 wells. The pump house was constructed in 1903 and well houses were completed in 1904. Water was softened in the pump house and and then pumped by steam engine up into 3 water towers.
A pipeline from Portland was completed in the 1930s and since then water has come from Lake Sebago. The steam engine machinery was removed from the pump house, and today the pump house is a private residence.
